Automobile plays a major role in our life. Cars ,bikes and other form of automobile machines helps us to travel and transport. But the origin of automobile, How they came into pictures, What has led us to this big picture is a matter of debate. Now a days, we have full access to many forms of vehicles, choices of colours, number of carmakers making number of models and then their variants, equipped with latest technologies . Those were days when vehicle were all mechanical, cars were not that comfortable, heavy steering wheel, no electrical equipments and servicing and mantaining when task in itself for the driver as service center availability was not that great at that time either. All these factors combined can easily excite any enthusiast to learn about the automobile history and the facts related to it globally, So here we will discuss some of them about cars.
1.First automobile in the World
Carl Benz made the world's first automobile in 1885, known as Benz Patent Motorwagen. It was equipped with a single cylinder four- stroke engine installed horizontally, chassis of that car was also specially designed to install the engine. The car could reach the maximum speed of 16kmph.
2. Model T by Henry Ford
In 1908, the first car available to the masses was developed by the Ford named as Model T. One of the factor that made this car popular was the price tag associated with it. The car came with a price tag of $850 in 1908 making it affordable and because of the invention of assembly line the price of the car fell to only $260 in 1925.
3. Number of cars in the World today
There are 1.2 billion cars in the world today (estimated figure) , considering the fact In 1986, there were only 500 million back then. Ofcourse as the need of the mass have increased and the cost and availability of the cars have made it possible for people to own one now.
4. Manual transmission
Though many enthusiasts prefer their cars to be equipped with manual transmission giving them control. But there many countries like US where driving stick is a difficult task for them and that is one of the reason almost 95% of cars in the U.S, have automatic transmission in them. It is Interesting to note that in Europe and Japan people prefer manual transmission and here 80% of the cars in the market have manual transmission.
5. World's Best selling car
Sports cars and hyper cars have always been loved for their power figures and the UFO like designing .Most people wants a dream car which is luxury or powerful or exclusive in number. and can start a never ending debate to prove why there favourite car is better than the other's . So it would be worthy to note which is the world's favourite car. Well , it is the Toyota Corolla , a car which is sold in over 150 countries and regions. Toyota Corolla was launched in 1966 and more than 44 million units of this car have been sold , making it to equivalent of 20% company's overall sales.
